I will be setting up my jewellery workshop in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham as part of Design Space. This is an incubator support programme run by Birmingham City Council for start-up jewellery designer/maker businesses.
During my year here, I plan to design and create two collections – the ‘Urban’ and ‘Blue Lotus’. The Urban collection was inspired by the Urban locket, based on street art in urban areas, which I photographed on my travels. The Blue Lotus collection is a contemporary collection with an Asian aesthetic. My inspiration for this collection came from my love of architecture from the Art Deco era and the repetitive floral motifs seen in Indian art. The Blue Lotus collection will have some bespoke pieces which will include some of my photography.
